The Process

I typically work directly with homeowners or architects to design and create a custom piece of furniture or built-in cabinetry.  The design process varies in that some clients know exactly what they want and provide a detailed drawing, while others are more vague with a concept and leave the creative end up to me. After fully discussing a project, a free estimate is provided.  With agreement on pricing, I ask for a deposit to put the client in queue.  At that time a detailed drawing is done for the customer's approval.  Local delivery is usually included in pricing.  Long distance is handled by a "white glove" shipper and cost is determined by location.

One of my greatest strengths is listening and partnering with my customers to create their dream pieces. Customer satisfaction is my primary goal, which I find is only accomplished through careful listening and exceeding expectations. I usually choose traditional methods of construction, most often thinking about the longevity of the piece while considering the latest design trends.  Type of wood selection is always customer-driven. I enjoy selecting wood for interesting grain and matching for color.  The best  part of my job is working with wood and building beautiful things. Trees are fascinating and varied, and I'm always amazed by the treasures they hold.
"Filling your home with beautiful, handmade furniture creates a special warmth. We chose Michael Wilson Woodworking to build unique items that reflected our personality and style. Unlike manufactured furniture, Michael carefully considers each board, paying particular attention to wood grain, color, natural markings, and imperfections. He is truly an artist, and wood is his medium. We continually get compliments on the many pieces that he has built for us."
